To install and configure your own Wi-Fi network, it is recommended to use a special router. The selection of this networking equipment must be taken seriously to avoid future problems.
It is necessary
- - Wi-Fi router;
- - network cable.
Instructions
Step 1
First, read the instructions for your laptops. Find out the type of wireless networks their network adapters can connect to. If the information you need is not in the paper version of the manual, visit your laptop manufacturer's website to find the information you need.
Step 2
Now get a Wi-Fi router capable of creating the desired access points. Pay attention to the type of its connection to the provider's server (DSL or LAN). Connect the selected equipment to AC power. Connect the network cable to the WAN port of the Wi-Fi router.
Step 3
Select a laptop or desktop computer from which the router will be configured. Connect the network card of the selected PC to the LAN port of the network equipment. Launch an Internet browser and complete the procedure for logging into the web interface of the Wi-Fi router.
Step 4
Now open the WAN menu. Set up the router's internet connection. Check the correctness of the entered data. Enable NAT, Firewall and DHCP functions. This will facilitate further configuration of laptops and computers connected to the router. Save the changes to the settings of the network equipment.
Step 5
Go to the Wi-Fi menu. Create a new wireless access point. Pay particular attention to the choice of security types and radio signal. They must match the parameters of the laptop network adapters. Be sure to enter the strong password required to access your hotspot. Save your wireless settings.
Step 6
Reboot your Wi-Fi router. Wait for the device to establish connection with the provider's server. Check the availability of Internet access on a computer connected to the router via a cable. Now turn on your laptop and search for available wireless networks. Connect your mobile computer to the newly created hotspot. Make sure the laptop can access the internet.
