The partitions of the hard drive for the Linux operating system have their own type of file system, so they cannot be formatted from under the Windows operating system - it simply will not see them. To format such hard drives, you need to use a utility program for working with hard drives, for example, Acronis Disk Director.
It is necessary

Instructions
Step 1
Take a bootable disk with integrated Acronis Disk Director. This program is included in almost any system disk. If you do not have such a disc, download the image from the Internet and burn it to optical media. You can find it on the official website of the manufacturer acronis.ru. You can download the software to your computer for further work, and you can also burn it to a disk for further loading through the BIOS system.
Step 2
Boot your computer from an optical disc. To do this, go to the motherboard BIOS and set the boot order first from the DVD drive, and only then from the hard drive. Save the changes, and after restarting the computer, select the boot of Acronis Disk Director on the disk. To do this, you need to wait for the automatic loading of the disk in the system and press Enter on the desired item.
Step 3
Wait for the program to start. In the main window of the program, find the hard drive that needs to be formatted - identify it by the device model. Through the "Operations" menu, delete the existing partitions on the hard drive and create new ones by formatting them into the desired file system. You can also increase or decrease the size of disk space on local sectors in the operating system.
Step 4
Start the execution of the selected operations by clicking on the button with the start flag picture. Give the program time to perform the specified actions, then exit the program by closing its main window. Restart your computer and enter the operating system. The hard drive partitions are now visible from under Windows. With the help of Acronis Disk Director, you can create new partitions on the hard drive at the expense of the free space of other partitions, merge partitions and copy them.
