Printers can be used for a variety of tasks. Even for home use, it makes sense to save toner and ink in printers by separating black and white and color printing. What can we say about their office use, when the need to connect two printers, one of which is networked, arises quite often.
Instructions
Step 1
It is completely possible to connect two printers to one computer. This is done in the same way as connecting any other devices. Only they should not be installed simultaneously, but in turn. To connect the first printer, follow the instructions below:
• Connect the power to the printer and connect the cable (most often USB connector) from the printer to the system unit;
• Turn on the computer, insert the laser disc with the printer drivers into the drive and install them by running the files “setup.exe” or “install.exe”.
• Turn on the power switch on the printer. The computer will detect the new device. Then it will install the drivers for it in automatic mode. The first printer is installed.
Step 2
Connect to the computer and install the drivers in the same sequence for the second printer. The ability to connect two printers to a computer is even more limited only by the number of free ports for connecting them. After that, you can choose which of the printers will print documents. This can be done by setting one of the installed printers as the default through the Control Panel and Printer Settings. You can also select the desired printer for printing in each individual case in the settings of the open program.
Step 3
It is also interesting to connect two printers to a computer, when one of them is already installed, and the other is networked and publicly available. Before installing a network printer, make sure your computer is also connected to the network. Go to the Control Panel in the "Printers" section and start installing a network printer. In the corresponding window, enter its network address or specify the printer manually through the Network Neighborhood overview. You can also choose which of the installed printers to print on from the print settings of different programs. The only problem with printing to a network printer is the need to keep the computer to which it is directly connected always on.
