A household DVD player consists of several components: drive, signal processing board, power supply. If only one of the nodes is out of order, there is no point in changing the entire player. It is enough to replace or repair the faulty unit.

Instructions

Step 1

Determine the nature of the problem by its symptoms. For example, if the player does not turn on at all, the power supply is faulty; if it turns on, but does not show "signs of life" (the tray does not come out, there is no video signal, etc.) - the signal processing board is "to blame"; and if everything works, but the data is not read from the disks, the problem lies in the mechanical part.

Step 2

Disconnect the player from the mains, TV and all other devices. Leave it off for an hour to discharge all capacitors. Then remove the cover from the player. Pay attention to electrolytic capacitors first. If some of them are swollen, replace them with exactly the same ones (both in capacitance and in voltage), observing the polarity. Close the player and check the device. If nothing has changed, unplug it again and soak it again for one hour before the next opening.

Step 3

If replacing the capacitors did not eliminate the malfunction, find a faulty turntable of the same model, which is sold "for spare parts", at online auctions. It must necessarily be damaged not the component that is to be replaced, but any other. Purchase the device, and then install a serviceable unit taken from the "donor" into your player. Make sure that after replacement all connectors are correctly connected and all screws are installed.

Step 4

If the power supply fails, and you cannot find the same one, use the lowest-power computer unit that you can find. It won't fit inside the player, so place it outside. Install a regular switch between the green and black wires - you will use it to turn the player on and off. On the signal processing board, it is usually signed which voltages need to be applied where. The power supply has a black wire - common, on red there is a voltage of +5 V, on yellow +12 V, and on orange +3, 3 V. Do not allow short circuits, especially on the last of these outputs - it is not equipped with protection.

Step 5

Reassemble the player in reverse order and start using it.
