Step 1
Download from the Internet and install the Zero Assumption Recovery program on your personal computer to extract data from the hard drive. This program has a wide range of capabilities, with the help of which, if necessary, you can recover lost data not only from your hard drive, but from almost any other storage medium. You can use any other program of a similar nature. They work in much the same way.
Step 2
Examine the surface of the hard drive. It is important that it be whole. Connect it with an additional ribbon cable and power cord to the computer. If the hard drive is detected in the BIOS, the probability of data recovery is very high. (These steps are necessary when working with a portable hard drive. To recover files from the main working hard drive of a personal computer, the above steps are not required).
Step 3
Wait for the computer to boot up. Run the program. Click the Proceed button to continue working. Select "Recover data from hard drive". Then press the Proceed button again.
Step 4
Review the list of discovered devices. Select the hard drive you are interested in. Click the search button. Wait for the search to end. All found files will be displayed in the window. Check the ones you want to recover. Click the Proceed button. A menu will appear.
Step 5
Specify the directory where you want to recover deleted files. Do not under any circumstances restore them to the same directory where they were before deletion, as you may lose them forever.
