Most computer owners do not need to know what kind of components their computer consists of. While it normally works and copes with all the tasks that the user loads it, there is no need to be interested in its "content". But there may come a time when you have to, for example, download new drivers to the motherboard. And for this you need to know exactly what chipset it is built on.
It is necessary
Computer, AIDA64 Extreme Edition PC testing program, Internet access, basic computer skills
Instructions
Step 1
Download from the developer's site https://www.aida64.com/downloads installation file for AIDA64 Extreme Edition. On the site, you can choose a free trial version, which makes it possible later (after payment) to expand it to a full version. During the installation process, select the folder where the application will be installed and accept the license agreement
Step 2
After the installation is complete, the program will automatically start. To run it "manually" later, double-click the left mouse button on the program's shortcut on the desktop.
Step 3
In the open program window, on the right, there is a column with menu items. Select the line "Motherboard" in it. In the additional list that appears, find the item "Chipset"
Step 4
On the right side of the program window, you will see a complete list of the properties of your motherboard's chipset. At the very top of this list are two lines: "North Bridge" and "South Bridge". The name of the north bridge is the name of the motherboard chipset. The Southbridge is the second chip on the motherboard and is responsible for the operation of many connected devices. Write down its name, this information can be useful when looking for drivers for the motherboard.
