If your computer does not play music, the problem may be in the speakers, headphones, or lack of codecs. And there may be problems with the sound card. How do I check if my sound card is working? It's simple.
It is necessary
- - a computer
- - mouse
- - working speakers or headphones
- - sound file with wav extension
- - sound file with mid extension
Instructions
Step 1
First, check for a sound card in the list of devices. To do this, right-click on "My Computer", go to "Properties". In the "Hardware" tab, select "Device Manager". Under Sound, Video and Game Controllers, find your sound card. Click on it with the right mouse button, select "Properties". In the "General" tab in the "Device Status" window, it should say "The device is working normally".
Step 2
Run any sound file with wav extension, listen to it. Run it, because other types of files may not have codecs, and the wav file can be run without third-party programs. Check if the volume is set to sufficient volume.
Step 3
Run any file with the mid extension.
Step 4
If the files you are running are playing, then the sound card is working properly.
