Moving layers is one of the basic operations required when working with most files in Photoshop. There are at least three ways to swap layers in this graphics editor.

Step 1
The most obvious way to change the order of the layers in a document open in Photoshop is to drag the layer to a new position with the mouse. To do this, left-click on the layer you want to move in the layers palette and, without releasing the left button, drag the layer to a new location. If you need to move several layers at the same time, select them by holding down the Ctrl key and drag them with the mouse.
Step 2
Dragging and dropping layers with the mouse is quite convenient and intuitive, but not suitable for all cases. If at the very top in the layers palette of your document is not a layer, but a group, in order to place one of the lower layers above this group, you will have to use the commands from the Arrange group ("Arrange") of the Layer menu ("Layer"). move the selected layer to the very top, use the command Bring to Front ("Bring to front"). The Bring Forward command will move the selected layer one position up. As you might guess, the Send Backward command will send the selected layer one position down, and the Send to Back command will move the selected layer or multiple layers to the lowest position in the Layers palette. you need to change the order of the layers to the opposite, select these layers and apply the command Reverse ("Reverse").
Step 3
If you are used to using keyboard shortcuts when working in graphic editors, use the Shift + Ctrl +] hotkeys to move the selected layer to the front. To raise the layer one position up, press Ctrl +]. The combination Ctrl + [will lower the selected layer by one position, and the combination Shift + Ctrl + [will drag the layer you are working with to the lowest position. Using these shortcuts, you can move not only layers, but also groups of layers.
