FTP servers are used to upload and download data on the Internet over a separate channel. For example, FTP is used when uploading website files to a server and is provided by hosting providers. To access it, you must enter the appropriate data into the client program.

Step 1
After registering or purchasing hosting, the FTP data is communicated by the hosting provider via e-mail, and therefore you need to check your email inbox for a corresponding notification. The data for accessing the protocol includes the server address, username and password.
Step 2
If your hosting provider has not sent you the parameters for your FTP account, you can find them in the information section of your site's control panel. Go to the resource administration panel by entering the login and password for access. In the left part of the window, study the information presented, which most often contains the data for accessing the data transfer protocol.
Step 3
If there are no details in the control panel, contact the technical support of your hosting provider for further consultation or creating a new FTP account. The support worker will be obliged to provide you with the necessary data to complete the connection.
Step 4
After gaining access to FTP, specify the received parameters in the client program window. The file managers Total Commander and Far also support the work with the protocol.
Step 5
Specify the parameters for connecting to the server using the corresponding settings item in the menu of the selected utility. After specifying the settings, click "Connect" and wait for the connection to the server. Then you will see the site files stored on the server. To add this or that document, go to the www or htdocs directory of the resource and move the necessary files through the program window.
