The Windows operating system allows the user to set the desired screen resolution himself. Choosing the right resolution can help reduce eye strain and ensure a comfortable computer experience.

Instructions

Step 1

The choice of resolution is influenced by several main factors. First of all, this is the size of the screen elements: the higher the resolution, the smaller they are and the higher the burden on vision. The screen resolution is also affected by the requirements of the programs being launched, many of them refuse to work at too low a resolution - for example, 800x600 pixels. Usually, the operating system itself chooses the most optimal screen resolution during installation, but you can configure it yourself.

Step 2

To select the screen resolution you need in OS Windows XP, open the Control Panel: "Start - Control Panel", select "Display - Settings". Move the slider, set the required resolution and click "OK". You will be prompted to evaluate the new settings and save them if you are satisfied with them. You can open the screen settings window in another way - right-click on an empty space on the desktop and select "Properties".

Step 3

The most optimal size for computers with traditional aspect ratio is 1024x768 pixels. It provides the normal size of the screen elements, this resolution is supported by almost all programs. If you have good eyesight, you can set a higher resolution, up to 1280x1024. For laptops and monitors with a 16: 9 aspect ratio, the most convenient screen resolution is 1366x768 pixels.

Step 4

If the resolution you are using makes objects on the screen too small, you can resize text and other elements. Open: "Start" - "Control Panel" - "Display" - "Settings" - "Advanced" - "General". Select a larger scale (dots per inch). Please note that changing the scale may interfere with the display of system fonts. If you are not satisfied with the result of the rescaling, go back to the previous option.

Step 5

For the Windows 7 operating system, the screen resolution settings are selected in a similar way. To open the settings window, click on a free space on the desktop and select "Screen resolution" in the context menu. Then set the parameters you need and save the changes.
