A modern laser printer provides high quality, fast printing and low cost per page. But when printing, toner is gradually consumed, and one day the owner of the printer is faced with the task of refilling the cartridge.
Instructions
Step 1
Despite the difference in the design of cartridges for printers of different models and manufacturers, the general principles of refilling remain the same. Before refueling, place a newspaper on the table, prepare a dry cloth to wipe off spilled toner from the cartridge.
Step 2
Refilling a laser printer cartridge includes not only filling toner, but also cleaning the trash compartment - fluff from paper, dust, some toner get into it. But if your cartridge is refilled for the first time, then the trash compartment may not be cleaned during the first refueling.
Step 3
Remove the cartridge and place it on the table. The protective shutter covering the photosensitive drum is sometimes removed, but with careful work this can be omitted. Take a pair of pliers and use them to carefully pull out the sleeves holding the photosensitive drum. Remember the disassembly order carefully. Then slightly spread apart the spring-loaded halves of the cartridge, slide the shutter and remove the photosensitive drum by the gear. Wrap it in a clean cotton cloth and place in a dark place - the drum should not be exposed to light.
Step 4
To clean the waste bin, the spring-loaded halves of the cartridge must be disconnected. They are connected by two pins. Sometimes these pins can be filled with plastic, in which case small plastic protrusions are visible in their place, which must be carefully cut off so that the pins can be grasped with small nippers or pliers. In some cases, the pins can be knocked out inside the cartridge, then, after separating the halves, removed.
Step 5
When disassembling the cartridge, do not touch the surfaces of the rollers with your fingers; only grasp the ends of the axles. The trash bin is located in the half of the cartridge with a handle. To remove the debris, it is necessary to remove the rubber roller (it is located under the removed photosensitive drum), then unscrew the screws securing the squeegee - a metal plate with a soft plastic transparent strip attached to it. After removing the squeegee, gently dump the contents of the trash bin through the gap on a newspaper sheet, roll up the newspaper and place it in the trash bin. Reassemble the parts of this half of the cartridge in reverse order.
Step 6
The toner hopper is located in the second half of the cartridge. There is a cross screw on one of the ends of this half - unscrew it, remove the cover, while holding the tone shaft so that it does not fall out. It covers the slot through which the toner is fed. Look for a plastic plug under the removed cover. Open it, there is a hole for filling toner under it.
Step 7
When adding toner, never fill the hopper to the end, otherwise the cartridge may deteriorate. Always leave at least some free space. It is enough to put a standard bottle of toner into an empty hopper. Reinsert the plug and reassemble the cartridge in the reverse order.
