Windows firewall (firewall) settings are critical in ensuring the security of your computer and the data stored on it when you work on the Internet and local networks. The operation of configuring the firewall is carried out using standard Windows methods and does not require special computer knowledge.
Instructions
Step 1
Click the "Start" button to bring up the main menu of the system and go to the "Control Panel" item.
Step 2
Expand the Windows Firewall link and apply the Enable (Recommended) check box on the General tab to start the firewall.
Step 3
Check the "Do not allow exceptions" checkbox to suppress blocking alerts and prevent the creation of an exception list.
Step 4
Go to the "Exceptions" tab and apply the checkboxes in the fields of the applications that you want to allow incoming connections.
Step 5
Click the Advanced tab to disable the firewall for a specific connection and configure additional ICMP filtering options.
Step 6
Click the "Default" button to restore the original firewall settings.
Step 7
Use automatic creation of application exceptions when launching a program that is waiting for a connection to a specific port to access the network.
Step 8
Click the Block button in the Windows Security Alert window to completely block the selected application from connecting to the network.
Step 9
Click the Unblock button to create a rule that allows the selected application to connect to the network.
Step 10
Click the "Postpone" button to reject the connection at the moment.
Step 11
Return to the Exceptions tab and click the Add Program button to create a rule that allows the selected application to access the network if you know in advance that it is necessary.
Step 12
Click the Add Port button to create a rule for connecting from the network to the service running on this port.
Step 13
Click the Change Scope button to set the range of addresses from which connections can be made to the specified application or port.
Step 14
Click the Advanced tab and apply the checkboxes in the Network Connection boxes under Network Connection Settings to enable the Firewall service for each one.
