Perhaps there is no such computer user who would not lose the necessary document, photo or song on his hard drive. And, it would seem, everyone knows that there is a search in Windows, however, finding something is not easy at all. It turns out that you need to know how to look!
Instructions
Step 1
The first thing to know is how to bring up the search bar. Like many other actions in Windows, the search window can be invoked in at least two ways.
1. Press the "Start" menu and select the "Search" menu item.
2. Press simultaneously the "Windows" key (the key with the icon in the form of a window) and the "F" key.
In either case, a Windows search window will open in front of you.
Step 2
The second thing you should do is select the search parameter you need in the left pane of the search window.
1. If you are looking for multimedia files, select the "Pictures, music or video" section of the search.
2. If you are looking for documents - select the section of the search Documents (text files, spreadsheets, etc.).
3. If you are not sure which file you are looking for, select the "Files and folders" section.
In general, you can search for any file by selecting the "Files and folders" section, but the search speed for a specific section will be higher.
Step 3
The third thing you should do - in the menu that appears, select the "Part of the file name or the whole file name" box and enter the name of the file you are looking for here, and just below, in the "Search in:" window, select the part of the hard disk where the desired file may be located … If you are not sure of the exact name of the file, you can enter one word from the name or even part of a word. If you are not sure where exactly the lost file or folder is located on the hard disk of your computer, you can select “My Computer” in the “Search in:” window, and in this case the search engine will search the entire hard disk.
After adjusting the search parameters to suit your needs, click the "Find" button and the search will be performed, and its results will be presented in the right part of the search window.
