To use the TV as a monitor for a computer, it is recommended to connect it via a special cable. The choice of its type depends on the availability of certain connectors in the computer's video card and TV.
Necessary
DVI-HDMI cable
Instructions
Step 1
First, find the correct pair of connectors through which you will connect. Naturally, digital channels are recommended to ensure the best picture quality. Computer graphics cards are equipped with HDMI and DVI ports, which carry a digital signal. Despite the fact that the DVI port is rarely found in modern plasma and LCD TVs, it can be replaced with an HDMI port using a special adapter.
Step 2
Purchase a suitable video cable and adapter if needed. Connect the computer's video card to the TV. If you use a monitor and a TV at the same time, then the first device can be left on. Now turn on both equipment. Wait for the PC operating system to load.
Step 3
Open the TV settings menu. Find the item that lists the connectors for connecting video cables. Set the signal receiving source to the port through which you connected to the computer.
Step 4
Now set up your computer. Open Control Panel and go to the Appearance and Personalization menu. Select "Connect to external display" located in the "Display" menu. Now select the display that will be the main one. To do this, select its graphic image and activate the "Make this screen main" function.
Step 5
Select the setting for synchronous operation between the monitor and the TV. It is recommended to use the item "Expand the screen". This allows you to use your TV and monitor at the same time for different tasks. If you connected a TV set to show a presentation, or you just want to use it instead of a monitor, then activate the function "Duplicate screens". In this case, an identical image will be displayed on both displays.
