Quite often, you can improve the performance of a Celeron processor by about 20% by increasing its clock speed. This process is called "overclocking" and must be done carefully enough not to damage the CPU.
Necessary
CPU-Z program
Instructions
Step 1
Before overclocking the CPU, make sure that this device is running stably with the currently set parameters. Download and install the CPU-Z program. You will need it in the future to check the degree of processor acceleration. Run the program and write down the important parameters from there: Core Speed, HTT, Multiplier and Voltage.
Step 2
Now restart your computer and enter the BIOS menu. To open the full menu required for overclocking the processor, press the key combination Ctrl and F1 (some models of motherboards may have different keys) at the initial moment of loading. Go to the menu, which contains the characteristics of the RAM and processor.
Step 3
These menus can be named like Advanced Chipset Features, POWER BIOS, Memclock index, or Advanced. Now take a very important step: change the frequency of the RAM to the lowest. The fact is that when the processor is overclocked, the frequency of the RAM will automatically increase. So that it does not exceed the permissible level, it is necessary to start precisely from its minimum.
Step 4
The overall performance of the processor can be increased in two ways: by changing the bus frequency or by a multiplier. If the BIOS version allows you to use the first method, then increase the bus frequency. Otherwise, the multiplier value. Please note that if the multiplier is equal to x10, you need to increase the bus frequency by 10-20 Hz. After all, the overall clock frequency of the processor will increase by 100-200 Hz.
Step 5
Be sure to increase the voltage value of the Celeron. It is recommended to add no more than 0.10-0.15 Volts. If this is not done, then the active voltage may not be enough for the increased speed of the central processor.
Step 6
Restart your computer and start the CPU-Z program. Make sure the processor is stable. Repeat the overclocking procedure to further increase performance.
