Windows 7 gadgets display certain information to the user on the desktop. They are scripted applications or plain HTML code that displays the desired data. Any user who knows the basics of HTML can create their own gadget.
Instructions
Step 1
Create a directory where your gadget will be located. The name of the folder does not matter, you can create a directory anywhere on your computer's hard drive. However, it is most convenient to test and edit the program directly in the system folder (for example, in C: / Program Files / Windows sidebar / Gadgets).
Step 2
In the directory of your choice, create two files with permissions.html and.xml. Right-click in the Explorer window and select New - Text File, then change the name and type to gadget.html and gadget.xml.
Step 3
Open the generated XML document using any text editor. It is necessary to register in it all the information that is registered in the gadget selection dialog box (icon, information about the developer, etc.). At the top of the file, enter the code:.

Save your changes and open the second gadget.html file. Make all the settings at your discretion, write HTML-code. The structure of the file follows the structure of a regular document for a given markup language. You can specify the path to JavaScript or Visual Basic script, attach a cascading style sheet, and customize the layout according to your tastes and design abilities. When creating a gadget, you can use all the features of the HTML language.
Step 6
Save all changes to the file and test the created menu using the Windows Gadget Manager. To do this, right-click on the desktop and select the "Gadgets" menu. If something doesn't work quite right, you can always edit the HTML and XML files. Element creation is complete.
