Instant messaging is a very fun process. However, each new message, by default, is accompanied by a sound signal, which may be unpleasant for someone, may distract someone from important matters, and someone does not need it at all, since the look from the monitor does not take a second. Muting the sound in ICQ is quite simple.
Instructions
Step 1
Open your instant messaging program and make sure event sounds are turned on. To do this, just send a message to one or several contacts who will definitely answer you. After making sure that the program works with sound, you need to find the settings panel in it. The ICQ settings panel, as a rule, is indicated by an icon in the form of a wrench, however, depending on the build of the program, this button may look different.
Step 2
In the settings panel, go to the tab named "Sounds". Using this tab, you can turn off the sound in ICQ. Please note that the sound can be not only turned off, but also changed, and this is done for each event individually. You can turn off sound notifications about new messages by leaving a sound signal, which means that the contact has started typing you a message. You can turn off the sound completely by checking the box next to the "Mute sound" line in the "Sounds" tab.
Step 3
In some programs, you can turn off the sound in ICQ by simply pressing a button in the main window of the client. As a rule, this button is located at the top above the list of contacts and is an icon with a conventional image of a speaker. By clicking on it, you can turn off all sounds at once. The sound is turned back on by pressing this button again. This method is simpler than turning off sounds using the settings panel.
