The days when PC users widely used magnetic floppy disks and laser disks to store information are farther and farther away. Times have changed, and thunderous CDs have been replaced by a compact flash drive that allows you to store files and exchange digital information in large volumes. But in order not to infect your or someone else's computer with dangerous content, you need to know how to remove a virus from a flash drive.
Necessary
- - antivirus,
- - command line.
Instructions
Step 1
Insert the flash drive into the USB socket of a personal computer or laptop. This connector looks like a small hole with an emblem in the form of a tree-like block diagram. After that, in the lower right corner of the desktop, next to the time, a small shortcut for the new device will appear. Also in the middle of the desktop there will be a service window "Autostart" with a convenient scroll bar. Do not pay attention to these windows and inscriptions, since you can quickly remove a virus from a flash drive only through the "My Computer" folder. Find the My Computer icon on your desktop. Most often it looks like a computer image.
Step 2
Open this folder. Inside it you will find a list of the main system, personal and archive folders - "Local drive C", "Drive D" (administrator documents), "DVD RW drive F", etc. After connecting the flash drive to the computer, another shortcut will be added to this list of folders - a new device. Usually it is designated by one Latin letter "H", "G" or "E" (other options are also possible). Additionally, the English inscription of the manufacturer may be indicated, for example - "KINGSTON". Click on the thumb drive icon with the right mouse button. In the list of commands that appears, select "Scan with antivirus software".
Step 3
Next, the operating system will start to diagnose the flash drive for viruses. This procedure will take some time, in proportion to the amount of information stored on the flash drive. If it detects malicious software, the antivirus system will prompt you to disinfect, send to quarantine, or delete the dangerous file. Choose the appropriate option, depending on the situation, i.e. if it cannot be cured, then it is better to quarantine, or completely delete.
Step 4
Very often removable drives are infected by the Autorun.exe virus. It can disguise itself as a program folder, and when opened, it becomes infected with dangerous content. Further, the virus quickly spreads to all other flash drives, disks and computers in contact with this computer. The flash drive may stop opening, and incomprehensible characters will be displayed in its context menu. You can remove the autorun virus using good anti-virus programs - "Kaspersky Internet Security", "ESET NOD32", "Dr. Web" and others, or using the command line.
