Resolution is a term applied to digital images. The desktop “picture” and all the icons on it are also digital images. The selected screen resolution will determine the appearance of the desktop and all launched files (large or small icons of folders and files, their normal or stretched appearance, the type of file signatures, and so on). You can revert or set a new screen resolution in just a few clicks.
Instructions
Step 1
To adjust the screen resolution, open the Control Panel from the Start menu. When displaying the Control Panel by Category, select Appearance and Themes. In the window that opens, either select the task "Change the screen resolution", or click on the "Screen" icon. If the control panel has a classic look, immediately select the "Display" icon by clicking on it with the left mouse button. The "Properties: Display" window will open. To switch from displaying the control panel by category to the classic view and vice versa, click the appropriate label command on the left side of the control panel dialog box.
Step 2
The "Properties: Display" window can be called in another way. Click from the desktop in any place free of folders and files with the right mouse button. In the drop-down menu, select the last line "Properties" and click on it with any mouse button. In the window that opens, go to the "Parameters" tab.
Step 3
The "Parameters" tab is divided into several parts. At the top, you will see a visual display of your monitor. If you have multiple monitors connected, choose which monitor you want to apply the new settings to. To do this, click on the monitor image with the left mouse button so that it is highlighted with a frame. If you have only one monitor installed, leave everything unchanged.
Step 4
To change the screen resolution of the selected monitor, in the "Screen resolution" section located under the section with the visual display of the display, move the "slider" to the position you need and click the "Apply" button. The desktop configuration will change, you will be given a few seconds to evaluate the result. If you are satisfied with the new display, confirm the operation by clicking the "Yes" button in the notification window. Close the properties window by clicking the "OK" button or the "x" icon in the upper right corner of the window. If you are not satisfied with the new screen resolution, clicking the "No" button will return you to the current settings.
