Resetting the BIOS settings and the password for entering it cannot be done without opening the computer cover, since this is done by switching a special jumper on the motherboard, as well as by removing a special battery.

Instructions

Step 1

Shut down your computer. Disconnect it from the power source, since you will have to directly contact the motherboard and power wires, unscrew the bolts holding the left wall of the system unit case. For convenience, you can turn the computer on its side, having previously disconnected the wires that prevent this.

Step 2

Find a battery on the motherboard with a diameter of about 2-2.5 cm, held by a metal clip. This is a special battery that supplies power to the BIOS to memorize all settings, change it periodically.

Step 3

Gently pry the battery with a screwdriver to remove it from the metal holder on the motherboard. Remove it for 10-15 minutes so that the BIOS settings can be reset. In this case, it is better to wait as long as possible in order to avoid repeating the operation, since the waiting time for a reset for motherboard models can be completely different, in some the reset occurs almost immediately, and in some it takes 10 minutes or half an hour.

Step 4

Reset the BIOS parameters using a special jumper located on the computer motherboard near the battery, usually it is signed Clear, CLR_CMOS and so on. Use it to knock down the parameters, but keep in mind that some motherboard models simply do not provide for it.

Step 5

After you reset the BIOS settings in one of the ways described above, start the computer and press the button to enter the installation menu, which is usually written on the start screen. In most cases, this is the Delete key. Check if the password has been reset and if the BIOS settings have changed to factory settings. After that, you can change the configuration at your own discretion.
