A smart card is used when connecting digital television packages and is an integral part of the equipment that is used to receive a television signal. It is designed to decode encrypted channels and can be installed both in a TV set and in a special signal receiver.
Necessary
- - adapter for smart card;
- - set-top box with support for smart cards;
- - TV with support for smart cards.
Instructions
Step 1
A special Common Interface (CI) slot is used to install a smart card into the TV. To find this port, carefully study the device or use its instructions for use. The slot is usually located on the back of the TV and can be signed as a PCMCIA Card Slot.
Step 2
Depending on the type of connection, the card is installed both directly and using the CAM module, which often comes with the TV set. Also, the CAM module can sometimes be provided to you by the company to which you are connected for digital television services. Insert the card into the module so that its contact part faces the slot on the module. Insert the card all the way.
Step 3
Install the module with the card into the slot of your TV in accordance with the markings on the device. For more accurate information, you can use the instructions for use.
Step 4
The smart card installation may differ depending on the TV model. If you are installing the card in a separate box, it is also worth placing it in accordance with the directions of the arrows on the device itself.
Step 5
Turn on your TV and set-top box (if available) to check the availability of connected channels. If the installed card does not work, check the adapter connection again and, if necessary, remove the card from the slot and reinsert it. If the channels have been identified, but access to them is denied, check the operation of the card or contact the support of your service provider. It is possible that you have not activated the required package of channels or have not paid for the use of television.
