There are many reasons why you need to change the username on your computer. You bought a computer from someone and want to delete their account and enter your own, you made a mistake when typing a username during the installation of Windows, you changed your last name, or maybe even your first name, and simply because you want to. It doesn't matter why you decide to do it. How exactly this is done is important.
Necessary
- Windows computer
- Access to the operating system as an Administrator
- Computer mouse, keyboard
Instructions
Step 1
Log in using an account with Administrator rights.
Step 2
Open the "Start" menu and select "Control Panel".
Step 3
Open the User Accounts category. Select the account you would like to change.
Step 4
Decide what you want to change in this account - just the name or, perhaps, also the image? Here you can also create or change a password, or change the type of account.
Step 5
Select "Change Name" and enter a new one. Click Change Name. The account will be changed.
Step 6
If you are satisfied with these changes, then you can stop there. If you need to change the username also in the system properties, then follow these steps.

Open the Start menu and select Run. Enter "regedit" in the line and click "OK". The Registry Editor will open.

Do the following path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / Software / Microsoft / Windows / Windows NT / Current Version and in the right pane find the RegistredOwner parameter. Select it and call the menu by clicking the right mouse button.
Step 9
Select "Change" and in the "Value" column type the name you need. Accept the changes by clicking "OK". Here you can also change the name of the organization that owns the computer. To do this, select the RegisteredOrganization parameter and repeat the same actions as in the case of changing the name.
