Sometimes, as a result of careless user manipulation or a system failure, the width of the taskbar becomes too large, which interferes with the normal operation of open applications. There are several ways to get the panel back to its familiar appearance.
Instructions
Step 1
Try the simplest way to reduce the width - move the mouse cursor over the top edge of the taskbar, and when it changes (becomes a double-headed vertical arrow), press and hold the left button and drag the outer border of the panel inward to the desired width.
Step 2
Try this sequence of operations if you can't just drag the border: first, right-click on the free space of the taskbar and make sure that in the pop-up context menu there is no checkmark next to the "Dock taskbar" item. If the mark is there, remove it by clicking this menu line with the mouse.
Step 3
Right-click an empty space on the Quick Launch. In the pop-up context menu, hover the cursor over the top line ("View") and select from the two appearing options "Small icons".
Step 4
Move the cursor over the left border (near the "Start" button) of the second (lower) row in the taskbar. When the cursor changes to become a double-headed horizontal arrow, press the left mouse button and drag up and to the right - to the level of the icons in the Quick Launch, but much to the right of them. As a result of this action, only one line should remain in the taskbar. The Quick Launch panel will be located on the left, and on the right - shortcuts of open programs. The width of the taskbar in this form should normally be adjusted in the manner described in the first step.
Step 5
There are several other operations that can indirectly reduce the width of the taskbar. One is to change the font size scaling value set in the display properties. Another is to change the screen resolution, which is also set in the display properties window.
