Sometimes a situation requires protecting information from prying eyes and ears, and this issue becomes most acute when several people use the same computer at once. In our age, when the boundaries of the private are gradually erased, there is still at least one way to fence off at least a part of your personal life from outsiders - to protect it with a password.
Instructions
Step 1
Install the Winrar archiving program, if you have not already installed it. In addition to its original function, Winrar is able to block access to packed information by setting a password. Of course, you first need to archive the protected object. Find the required file (or folder), right-click on it and select "Add to archive" from the menu.
Step 2
In the window that appears, go to the "General" tab, find the "Backup options" menu and check the box next to the "Delete files after packing" item. Now the program will independently delete the information on the basis of which the archive will be created, and you will not need to do it yourself.
Step 3
In the same window, go to the "Advanced" tab and click "Set Password". The next window will ask you to enter the password twice (the second time - for verification). If you check the box next to "Display password when entering", you will need to enter it only once and the characters will not be hidden behind dark dots. In this case, be careful when writing: in which case (i.e. in capital or small letters) or in what language you write, pay attention to the falling keys on the keyboard, if any, etc.
Step 4
When creating a password, use not only letters and numbers, but also various symbols, the Latin alphabet, as well as changing the case - this will add a headache to crackers. In addition, the longer your password, the longer it will take to brute force it. Also, a fairly strong password can be considered a certain phrase in Russian, but written in Latin and replacing some letters with numbers. Likewise, the phrase “I cannot swim” can be converted to the code word “yaneumeyup1avat”. Do not use common passwords such as "12345", "qwerty", etc. And, of course, don't forget your password.
