Instructions
Step 1
Press the Ctrl + Alt + Del function keys at the same time to launch the Windows Task Manager tool and open the Processes tab in the new utility dialog box.
Step 2
Determine the presence in the list of several running system processes explorer.exe (the presence of such processes confirms that the computer is infected with viruses), restart the computer in safe mode and scan the system for malware using the installed antivirus.
Step 3
Run the AVZ application and open the "File" menu of the upper toolbar of the program window. Select the "System Restore" item and apply the checkboxes in the "Restore Desktop Settings" and "Restore Explorer Settings" boxes.
Step 4
Confirm the execution of the command by clicking the "Perform marked operations" button and go to the "Control Panel" item of the main menu of the system. Expand the Add / Remove Programs node and remove any suspicious applications.
Step 5
Insert the installation disc into the drive and open the File menu on the top toolbar of the Windows Task Manager utility. Specify New Task to launch the Command Prompt tool and enter sfc / scannow in the command interpreter text box.
Step 6
Confirm execution of the command by pressing the function key Enter and restart the computer to apply the selected changes.

Log in again in Safe Mode if Windows Explorer cannot be restored and insert the installation disc into your drive. Find the i386 folder on the disk and create a copy of the explorer.ex_ file. Place the copy at the root of your C: / drive and rename it explorer.exe.
Step 8
Call the main menu of the operating system by pressing the "Start" button and go to the "Run" item to carry out the procedure for restoring the functionality of the "Windows Explorer" application. Enter regedit in the Open field and confirm the launch of the Registry Editor tool by clicking OK.
Step 9
Expand the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / Software / Microsoft / WindowsNT / CurrentVersion / Winlogon and select the Shell option. Specify the full path to the required explorer.exe and confirm your choice by clicking OK.
Step 10
Return to the Task Manager utility and open the context menu of the explorer.exe process by right-clicking. Specify the "End Process" command and open the "File" menu of the top toolbar of the dispatcher window.
Step 11
Select New Task and enter cmd in the text box to launch the Command Prompt tool. Confirm execution of the command by clicking OK and enter the value Cd C: / into the text box of the command interpreter.
Step 12
Confirm the command by pressing Enter and enter the value copy explorer.exe C: / Windows in the command prompt text box. Confirm the execution of the command by pressing the Enter key and enter the value Yes.
Step 13
Restart your computer to apply the selected changes.
