Instructions

Step 1

In order to be able to open access to the local disk, you need to manage an account that has the rights of the owner of the volume. Turn on your Windows computer.

Step 2

Open the "My Computer" menu in the way you are used to. Right-click on the desired local disk icon. Hover over the Sharing field and select Advanced Setup.

Step 3

Go to the "Security" menu by clicking on the tab of the same name. Click the Advanced button and navigate to Owner. Select the required account by clicking the "Change" button. Save your local drive settings.

Step 4

Now open the properties of the local drive through the explorer menu. Navigate to Access and click the Advanced Setup button. Check the box next to Share this folder. Enter the name of the network share in the corresponding field.

Step 5

Open the "Permissions" menu by clicking the button of the same name. Select a user group for which access to the disk will be open. If you plan to allow any account to use the network resource, select the "All" item.

Step 6

Check the boxes next to Modify and Read. Click the Apply buttons several times. Restart your computer and check if the local disk is available.

Step 7

If you are working with Windows XP, then after starting the Explorer menu, right-click on the disk icon and select "Sharing and Security". Open the "Access" tab after starting a new window.

Step 8

Activate the items "Allow changing files over the network" and "Share this folder" by checking the boxes next to them. Click the Apply button and close the settings menu. Restart your computer after completing the above steps.
