One of the prerequisites for the correct operation of a computer on a network is that it belongs to the same workgroup as other computers and network equipment. Even a novice user can easily change the workgroup for their computer.
Instructions
Step 1
Right-click on the My Computer icon on the desktop and select Properties from the context menu.
Step 2
If your operating system is Windows Vista or 7, open the "Advanced System Settings" menu. If you are using earlier versions of Windows, go to the next step.
Step 3
In the dialog box, go to the Computer Name tab and click the Change button.
Step 4
Change the workgroup name in the appropriate field and click OK.
Step 5
Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
