The matrix of an LCD monitor is composed of a fixed number of dots, and the best image quality is obtained when the resolution selected in the OS settings matches the matrix format. In addition to the basic resolution, there are several additional options, the use of which is approved by the designers, since the picture deteriorates within acceptable limits. Instructions

Step 1

You can access the extended list of screen resolutions from the standard dialogs of the operating system. Start with this method - perhaps the list contains the value you need. In Windows 7, for this, right-click on the background image on the desktop and select the "Screen resolution" line in the context menu.

Step 2

In the window that opens, click on the "Additional parameters" link, and in the next window, click on the "List of all modes" button. As a result, the next, third settings window will open.

Step 3

This window contains a long list of resolutions and their corresponding refresh rates. Review it and, if you find the option you want, select the line and click the OK button. Close the other two windows with the OK button.

Step 4

If the required resolution is so non-standard that it is not even in the extended list, you will have to use additional software. It is possible that the necessary program for managing the video card is already installed on your computer. It can be any of the Catalyst versions for ATI video cards or nVidia for GeForce. The procedure will vary depending on the application you are using. For nVidia, for example, you start by right-clicking on the background image and choosing nVidia Control Panel from the pop-up menu.

Step 5

In the nVidia panel, click on the Manage Custom Resolution link under the Display section and click the New button. A separate window for setting the new resolution will open.

Step 6

In the Desktop Pixels Horizontal and Desktop Lines Vertical boxes, enter the number of points in the respective directions. From the rest of the settings, it may be necessary to select the value "Bits per pixel".

Step 7

Click the "Test" button at the upper right edge of the window and the video card will try to switch the image to the display mode you specified. If it works, then close the window. The non-standard resolution will be added to the general list, and you can use it in the usual way.
