Operating systems support multiple languages. On Windows, switching between Russian and English layouts is implemented by default. In the process of working with the system, the input settings may change and some options may need to be edited to enable the English layout.
Instructions
Step 1
After Windows is installed, switching between keyboard layouts is done by simultaneously pressing the Shift and Alt keys. Thus, to enter text in a program or a text field, you need to left-click to select the cursor position, and then switch from Russian to English by pressing the corresponding buttons on the keyboard. Then you can start entering data in English.
Step 2
If for some reason the language does not switch, use the language bar to make settings. Right-click on the RU icon located on the right side of the bottom Windows pane. In the context menu that appears, select "Options" to open the settings window.
Step 3
The screen displays options for working with text input languages. If this field displays only the Russian version of the layout, click "Add" in the right part of the window. You will see a list of options available for selection. To add a standard English keyboard, select English (UK) or English (US) from the options provided. In the list that appears, click "Keyboard" - "British" or "Keyboard" - "USA". Having highlighted the necessary items, press "OK" to complete the operation of adding a new language.
Step 4
Use the "Apply" button and try to switch the layout from Russian to English. At the same time, follow the icon of the input language in the notification area - by simultaneously pressing Shift and alt="Image", you will see how the name RU changes to EN. This icon serves as an indicator of the currently used input language.
Step 5
If you are not comfortable with switching the language using Shift and alt="Image", you can assign other buttons yourself. To do this, go to the "Switch keyboard" tab. In the Keyboard shortcuts for input languages box, select Switch Input Language, and then click Change Keyboard Shortcut. In the list that appears, mark the combination that is most convenient for you, and then click "OK". The English keyboard layout is now complete. You can close the "Languages and text input services" window using the "OK" key.
