If you've decided to remove the pre-installed Windows Seven operating system from your mobile computer, don't rush to format your hard drive. You will need a working laptop to prepare the files required to install Windows XP.
It is necessary
- - disk with Windows XP;
- - USB storage;
- - access to the Internet.
Instructions
Step 1
Start by looking for hard drive drivers. When installing the Windows XP operating system on a mobile computer, a problem with determining the hard drive often arises. To prevent this, you need to install additional drivers. Visit the website of the laptop manufacturer you are using.
Step 2
Open the download center and download the required files. Extract them from the archive and copy the files to a USB flash drive or external hard drive with USB or eSATA interface.
Step 3
Download the Windows installation disc image and burn it to a blank disc using ISO File Burning. After the program finishes, do not remove the disc from the drive, connect the USB drive with the drivers for the hard drive and restart the mobile computer.
Step 4
Hold down the F8 key after the laptop starts booting. From the Quick Change Boot Device menu, select Internal DVD-Rom. Press any key to start boot from disk.
Step 5
Follow the instructions of the step-by-step menu until the program prompts you to select partitions or informs you that the hard drive is missing. Now select "Install Drivers" and select the files that were previously written to the USB drive. Remove the USB stick after installing the selected files.
Step 6
After identifying the hard drive, select the partition on which Windows Seven is located. In the next menu, activate the "Format to NTFS" item and press the Enter key. During the Windows XP setup process, the mobile computer will restart several times. Do not take any action to allow the device to boot from the hard disk.
Step 7
Visit the official website of the laptop manufacturer and download drivers for your motherboard and other devices that are designed to work in the Windows XP environment.
