One of the important operations that owners of Windows Mobile smartphones have to deal with is updating the operating system. Updating the OS to a new version can fix many software errors.

Instructions
Step 1
Download the appropriate update for your smartphone model and save it in an easily accessible place such as your computer desktop. Each smartphone manufacturer offers specific Windows Mobile updates for a specific phone model. You can check if there is software available for your device at microsoft.com/windowsmobile.
Step 2
Connect your phone to a USB port on your computer. Back up your device software. This must be done prior to updating as installing a new Windows Mobile OS will erase all data on your phone. A free backup utility can be found on the Internet. For this, ActiveSync and Windows Mobile Device Center are quite suitable.
Step 3
Start the update by clicking on its icon. Depending on the phone model and update, you will see either me or me installing the required system changes.
Step 4
Reboot your phone. This can be done automatically depending on the type of device being updated. If your phone does not restart itself, you will be prompted to press the appropriate key on the screen when it has finished installing everything you need.
