Skype is a proprietary software that allows users to make calls over the Internet. Calls are made free of charge from one computer to another, but there is a charge for calls to mobile phones and landlines. Today, more and more users want to install the new Skype, as it has many useful features, including: instant messaging, file transfer and video conferencing.
Since 2007, each user can install a free version of Skype, which offers various advanced features and services, for example, calls from any mobile or landline phone, even without special software, if the phone is located in one of the supported 25 countries.
Skype is the primary voice communication tool most commonly used on computers. You can also install Skype on your mobile phone using software developed by the company.
To install a new version of Skype, you need to use the following algorithm.
Before installing Skype, you need to make sure that your computer meets the minimum system requirements: 400 MHz processor, 15 MB of free space and 128 MB of RAM.
To install the new version of Skype for free, just download the executable installation file SkypeSetup.exe from the developers website. The software is installed in the Skype folder, which is automatically created in the Program Files directory. The Skype shortcut appears on the desktop automatically.
Click on the SkypeSetup icon that appears on the desktop after loading. You will run the "Installation Wizard". A window will appear warning you about the opportunity to run or save SkypeSetup.exe. Click on the "Run" button. Then follow the instructions on how to install the new Skype for free on your computer to complete the software installation.
Now you need to choose one of two ways with which you can start the software. Click on the “Skype” icon located on the desktop, or double click on the corresponding icon in the system tray to launch the application at any time. When Skype is connected to the network, its icon will turn green, which indicates the successful operation of the application on your computer. After disconnecting from the network, the icon will immediately turn red.
After installation, the application will offer to set up a personal profile in Skype. A request will be made if Skype has been used before. You need to click "Create an account", then enter a name, come up with a username and password, repeat the password in the appropriate field. It is mandatory to enter information in your personal profile. Other Skype users will see it. If you want not to fill out your personal profile or want to install a new version of Skype, you can always access your profile through the "Account" item in the main menu. Do not forget to write down your Skype username and password, as they will be required every time you start the application.
Click on the "Login" button. As soon as a Skype account is created, you can specify that your login appears automatically when you start the program in the appropriate field. All you need to do is enter your password and click the "Connect" button.
