When purchasing a laptop, many pay attention to whether the operating system comes with it. Laptops without Windows tend to be cheaper than those with Windows. Windows can be installed both from a hidden partition on a laptop hard drive and from external media.

Step 1
Even if you purchased a laptop with Windows XP preinstalled, you will still need to install it. This is done quite simply. To install Windows XP from a hidden partition, just connect the laptop to the electrical outlet (so that the laptop does not turn off during installation due to the end of the battery charge) and press the power button. When you turn on the laptop for the first time, the installation of Windows XP from the hidden partition will start automatically. Watch the installation carefully, set all the necessary options (including regional) in its process. During installation, the computer must restart several times. At the end of the installation, the operating system desktop should be on the screen. The laptop is ready to go.
Step 2
If the laptop comes without the Windows XP operating system and it has an optical drive, then the most convenient way to install the operating system on the laptop is to install from a CD. To do this, turn on the computer and enter the BIOS (using the F2, F9 or F10 buttons, depending on the brand of laptop). In the BIOS, find the "Boot Device" tab and adjust the boot queue so that the CD-ROM comes first. Insert the disc into the drive and restart your computer. After rebooting, you will need to press any button on the keyboard in order for the operating system to start booting from disk. Select the HDD partition on which the operating system will be installed, dividing the physical disk into logical ones if necessary. When the installation is complete, the operating system desktop should also be on the computer screen.
Step 3
Installing Windows XP from a flash drive is similar to installing from a CD. The only difference is that in the BIOS, the USB device must be the first in the boot queue. Windows XP installation files are written to the flash card using special programs.
