A very convenient and compact medium for storing information is a memory card. You can record a new book on it for an electronic book reader, or music and video on a mobile phone, or new maps for a navigator. To transfer data from a computer, card readers are used - devices for reading and writing information into which memory cards are inserted.

Instructions

Step 1

Connect the connector of the card reader to the USB port of the computer. Some memory card readers have a separate cable that must also be plugged into a USB port on your computer. Find the slot on the card reader that is most similar in size to your memory card, and insert the card all the way, effortlessly. If you did everything correctly, the indicator light will light up. If it doesn't light up, try a different slot.

Step 2

When the card reader is connected for the first time, the “Add / Update Hardware Wizard” window will appear on the computer screen. Select the third line with the inscription "No, not this time" with the left mouse button and click "Next" in each new window until the "Finish" button appears. After clicking on it, the device is ready to work.

Step 3

Double-click the left mouse button on the "My Computer" icon on the Desktop. A window will appear with your usual C:, D: drives and a new letter - this is how the operating system designates the card reader.

Step 4

Press the left mouse button twice on the drive letter, next to which some inscription appears, for example SD, Transcend or any other. If the memory card is empty, you will see a blank window; if it contains information, the names of files or folders with data will be visible. Double click on the icon of the folder where you want to write the information.

Step 5

Left-click on the window title and, without releasing the button, move the mouse pointer along with the window slightly to the side to free up a part of the desktop.

Step 6

Double-click the "My Computer" icon again quickly. In the window that opens, double-click the required disk. Find the folder with what you want to transfer.

Step 7

Left-click on the icon of the file you want to transfer, and without releasing the mouse button, move the file to the window with the contents of the memory card. If you need to write several files, hold down the CTRL button on the keyboard and left-click on the icons of the files and folders you need, and then move in the same way as one file.

Step 8

A window will appear with a filling line - copy indicator. Wait until it disappears, or click the "Cancel" button if you change your mind about writing information to the card. If there is not enough free space on the memory card - an error message will appear, close it by clicking on "OK". Open the window where you transferred files and folders to see what was copied. Done, data transfer is complete.

Step 9

It remains to properly disconnect the card reader from the computer. In the lower right corner of the screen, near the clock, find a gray-green icon, when you hover over which, the inscription "Safely Remove Hardware" will appear. Click on this icon with the left mouse button and again on the line that appears after that, for example "Extract Transcend (E:, F:, G:, H:,)". If you do not use this method, there is a chance of losing data on the card. The card reader can be removed after the message “Hardware can be removed” appears.
