Flash drives have become a common and convenient way to store a wide variety of information. But often there is a need to protect data on removable media. This can be done using special programs that allow you to set a code (password) to access the contents of the flash drive.
Instructions
Step 1
Download USB Secure software. The current version of this utility is 1.6.6. To do this, launch your browser. Enter the link to the developer's site https://www.newsoftwares.net/usb-secure/. Download the installer. The program has a shareware term of use, during which you can decide whether to buy it. The trial period is three launches and unlocks. Compared with similar utilities, it compares favorably with its versatility and usability. Alternative programs, for example, Lockngo (https://www.keynesis.com/) or ToolsPlus USB KEY (https://freesoft.ru/?id=674200).
Step 2
Run the downloaded file. Select English from the list of installation languages. Click the Next button on the first screen to start the installation. Click on I Agree on the license agreement page.
Step 3
Connect the flash drive that you want to password protect to your computer. If it was already plugged in, remove it and plug it into the USB port again. Specify the desired media and click Next. A message indicating that the installation is complete appears. Click Finish to close this message and finish.
Step 4
Double click on the "My Computer" icon on the desktop. Select the line with the name of the desired removable disk and run the USBSecure. The program window will open with three buttons: Yes, No, Buy. Click Yes if you want to install the code on the USB flash drive, No if you change your mind or are not ready, and Buy to proceed to registering the program.
Step 5
Select Yes - this will open a window asking you to enter a password to protect the media. Enter the desired password twice in a row, in the upper and lower fields, and click the Protect button. A progress bar will appear and after a few minutes all files will be hidden for anyone who does not know the access password.
Step 6
Remove your USB stick. Plug it back in and run the USBSECURE. Click the Unprotect Drive button and enter the password to work with the information. When finished, click the Done button and your disk will be password-locked again.
