Windows 7 users sometimes encounter the problem of the disabled window manager. In particular, when this service is disabled, there are some problems with the correct functioning of the Aero theme. To restore normal operation of your computer, you must enable the Window Manager service.
Instructions
Step 1
When the window manager is turned off in Windows 7, some effects do not work - for example, it is not possible to turn on the transparency of windows. To enable the manager, open: "Start" - "Control Panel" - "Administrative Tools" - "Services". Find "Desktop Window Manager Session Manager" in the list of services, open it. In the window that opens, set the startup type to "Auto" from the drop-down menu - this will allow the service to start automatically when the computer starts up. In order not to restart the computer, start the service by clicking the "Start" button located in the same window.
Step 2
If the previous option did not work, and the desired effects did not appear, you should try to enable Windows Aero forcibly. To do this, open Notepad and enter the code below into it. Write it in full, line to line, without missing anything! Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsDWM] "Composition" = dword: 00000001 "CompositionPolicy" = dword: 00000002 "ColorizationOpaqueBlend" = dword: 00000001
Step 3
Save the file under any name - for example, test. Then rename its extension from *.txt to *.reg. Run the created file test.reg, and the necessary changes will be made in the registry. It's easier than manually editing the registry.
Step 4
Open a command prompt with administrator rights: "Start" - "All Programs" - "Accessories". Find the "Command Prompt" item, right-click it and select "Run as administrator". In the command line (console) window that opens, enter net stop uxsms and press Enter. Then type net start uxsms and run the command again by pressing Enter.
Step 5
Please be aware that if you are using Windows 7 Starter and Starter Basic, some desktop effects will not be available to you. Look at the developer's website for information about your OS version - this will help you understand whether the lack of certain features of the operating system is related to its version, or the reason is still in the wrong configuration.
