When working with a computer, you may encounter problems with the CD or DVD drive. Sometimes it can block access, and the tray open button becomes inactive. Most often, such cases occur after an unsuccessful disk write or power outages.

Step 1
First of all, you should check all programs that can use the drive. These programs include utilities for "burning" discs, computer games, and applications that regulate the speed of the drive. Try to wait for the disc to finish writing, then exit the program that uses the dvd-rom. Some programs, such as CD Slow, block the tray while detecting the speed.
Step 2
If you are using a standard disc burning program that launches when you drag files onto the dvd-rom icon in My Computer, check if there are any files to burn. If found, select them and delete (move to trash).
Step 3
Sometimes this issue is caused by a simple hardware freeze, restart your computer and try opening the tray again. If during loading the disc in the dvd-rom spins up, its hardware is working correctly, therefore, the problem is only in the tray.
Step 4
Use a needle and a small sharp object to remove the disc from the drive tray. Look for a small hole on the side of the tray that is slightly wider than the thickness of the needle. Pinch the needle with your fingers and push the tip into the hole. Most drives are designed in such a way that the door should automatically jump out.
Step 5
If this does not happen, then a little help is needed to open the door. Take a needle in one hand and a sharp and thin object in the other hand (any knife will do). Pass the needle through the hole, and with a sharp object, pick up the upper part of the door, pull the door towards you, it should open.
Step 6
After removing the disc, due to mechanical impact on the tray, you must restart the computer (to restore the normal operation of the drive tray). If for some reason you could not remove the disc from the dvd-rom, do not disassemble it yourself, take the device to a service center.
