If you want to record high quality sound on your computer, then you will not be able to get by with the usual configuration. You will need additional equipment, using which you can achieve really high sound quality.
Instructions
Step 1
Install a special program in order to record high-quality sound. Recently, programs such as Nuendo and Sonar have proven themselves well. Of the old, time-tested ones, you can use Adobe Audition 1.5, but this program has much fewer features than those listed above. Check the compatibility of the program with the operating system. If it works correctly without conflicts with other applications, proceed to the next step.
Step 2
Connect a good sound card designed for sound recording to your personal computer. Please note that without this element, you will not be able to record high-quality sound. You can purchase it as a built-in sound card, which is installed in the case of the system unit, or an external audio interface, which would be much better, because it can also be used as an input signal power regulator (if the design provides appropriate potentiometers).
Step 3
Install all required drivers, restart your computer. Go to the recording program. Specify the new sound card as the recording and playback device.
Step 4
Connect a mixing console to your sound card to make a high-quality recording. First, it will serve as an equalizer. You can adjust the frequencies of the incoming signal, thereby significantly improving its quality. Secondly, if you will be using multiple microphones for recording, you simply cannot do without a mixing console.
Step 5
Soundproof the room before you start recording. This is necessary primarily in order to get rid of extraneous hums and noises that the microphone will certainly pick up. The fabric is excellent at absorbing sound. If you are recording sound at home, cover any objects that might reflect sound with a thick cloth.
