If you accidentally deleted a file on your computer, you can try to restore it. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. It all depends on the removal method and the availability of the required programs.

Instructions

Step 1

If you deleted a file (text document, video or sound file) directly from your hard drive, then recovering it can be very simple. Go to the trash can (it is often located on the desktop), find the desired file and right-click on it. Select the "Restore" command and the required file will be in its original location.

Step 2

If you worked with text and accidentally did not save the document or some kind of failure occurred, then you can restore the data the next time you open the document, if you worked with Microsoft Office (https://office.microsoft.com/ru-ru) or OpenOffice (https://ru.openoffice.org). The program will offer you to restore the document - your only task is to select the desired file. It may be possible to restore not the entire document, because autosave runs at regular intervals

Step 3

If information disappeared from a flash card, for example, it was formatted, data was deleted, or it simply stopped opening, then there is also a way to save information. Most importantly, don't write anything on it. If, after deleting the data, you recorded something on the memory card, then you will not be able to recover the information. Download the PhotoRec program (you can download it here: https://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec, it's free), connect the flash card to your computer, run the program

Step 4

A DOS application will open. In it, select the device you need, press Intel and Enter. Select the "Whole disk" section, press Enter. And in the next window, select the Other section, then Fat, then press Enter again. Select the location where you want to save the recovered files. After that, the process will start. All recovered files will be located in the folder that you have chosen to save.

Step 5

If your hard drive was formatted (or stopped opening), then you need to use the Get Data Back program (you can download it here: https://www.runtime.org/data-recovery-software.htm). Working with it is similar to working with PhotoRec. Download the program (do not save it to the disk that you want to recover), install, run, select the desired disk and the location to save the data

Step 6

If you have a damaged CD or DVD disc (scratches, chips, etc.), use the Toolbox program (you can download it here: https://www.sil.org/computing/toolbox/). Download, install and run it. Select the drive that contains the disc. Select the files you want to restore (you can click Check All, then the program will work with all data), set the path for the saved files and click the Save button. The program cannot recover all data
