Step 1
If you need to exit the command line of Windows operating systems, use the “exit” input, of course, without quotes, and press the Enter key. To exit the console (analogous to the command line in Ubuntu systems, used to execute certain commands), use the Alt + Tab keyboard shortcut, the same as in Windows to switch between programs. This option is relevant only if you have X's running.
Step 2
Use an alternative way to exit the console, for example, switch to the virtual console by simultaneously pressing the Alt + Ctrl + Fx keyboard shortcut, replace the x with a number from 1 to the maximum possible number of them. This action also has its limitations, the method does not work if you are in the remote control mode of the computer functions. In this case, you need to change the mode to apply the method, if possible at the moment.

Use the logout command or just start a new program window if you have not met both of the above exceptions: you are not in X and do not use remote access to work with the console.
