The active partition of the hard drive is responsible for the location of the Windows boot loader. The operation of selecting the active partition requires sufficient computer knowledge and cannot be recommended to inexperienced users for security reasons.
Instructions
Step 1
Click the "Start" button to bring up the main menu of the system and go to the "Control Panel" item to initiate the procedure for selecting the active partition of the computer hard disk.
Step 2
Specify the item "System and its maintenance" and select the item "Administration".
Step 3
Double-click the "Computer Management" link and enter the administrator password to confirm your authority in the request window.
Step 4
Specify the "Disk Management" element in the "Storage Devices" group in the navigation area and call the context menu of the section to be set as active by clicking the right mouse button.
Step 5
Use the Make Partition Active command to perform the selected operation.
Step 6
Return to the main "Start" menu and go to the "All Programs" item to perform the operation of selecting the active partition of the computer hard disk using an alternative method.
Step 7
Select the "Standard" item and call the context menu of the "Command Line" item by right-clicking.
Step 8
Select Run as administrator to meet Microsoft security requirements and run the command line tool.
Step 9
Enter diskpart in the command line field, and type list partition with the number of the partition selected to be active in the DISKPART command line field.
Step 10
Enter the value select partitionx, where x is the partition to become active, in the DISKPART command line field and confirm the execution of the selected command by entering the value active in the DISKPART command line field.
