The most common way of connecting computers with each other is a patch cord. No matter what they say about wireless Wi-fi networks, nothing is easier than a cable connection for computer technology. There are two types of laying the cores of the network cable in the connector: patch cord and cross cord. For communication, a computer - a switch, an ADSL modem, a network external drive, a patch cable is used. A crossover cable is used to connect computers directly.
Necessary
- - a special crimping tool with a device for stripping the ends of the cable;
- - 2 connectors;
- - network cable.
Instructions
Step 1
Take two connectors for the network cable, they are called RJ-45 or 8P8C. You can buy these connectors at any computer hardware store, they are inexpensive.
Step 2
Measure the correct distance and cut the 8-core network cable to the required length. Please note that there are different types of cable. The easiest way to focus on the application: outdoor or indoor. Any option is suitable for rooms and entrances. For outdoor installation, for example, along the wall of a building, it is better to take a more expensive shielded cable.
Step 3
Peel off the outer insulation and shielding layer about 3 centimeters at each end of the cable. For this, use a special crimping pliers with an end stripper. Take care not to damage the insulation of the wires themselves.
Step 4
Untangle the twisted wires so that they can be laid out in one line and trim the length of all wires with scissors, wire cutters, or crimping pliers. Repeat these steps for the other end of the network cable.
Step 5
To crimp the cable according to the "patch cord" scheme to connect the computer to the network equipment, the following arrangement of wires is used: white-orange, orange, white-green-blue, white-blue-green, white-brown-brown. Grasp the lined wires with your fingers and push into the grooves of the connector until it stops. Check if all the cable cores are well inserted into the channels, carefully insert the connector with the wires into the crimping pliers and firmly grip the handles of the tool. If this is your first time doing this procedure, practice first - you can only insert the connector cap into the pliers in one position.
Step 6
Carry out similar actions with the second end of the cable, that is, the order of the cores remains the same. Compare the arrangement of the colors in the grooves before crimping. Please note: if you look at the connector with inserted wires, their order should be the same on one side. That is, it is necessary to compare either from the flat sides, or from those where the fixing protrusion. Otherwise, you will end up with a non-working cable.
