Most designers in their work use not only their own works, but also other sources. For example, graphic or vector clipart. Using someone else's clip art implies the acquisition of rights to use it, so in some cases you can try to make it yourself.

Instructions

Step 1

You can make your own set of images for clip art, both from your own photos and purchased ones. It is much easier to work with your photos, because they are practically free, apart from the time it took. Some designers recommend using graphic editors to get several objects from the whole photo, which can significantly expand the clipart.

Step 2

Photos from the camera must be copied into one folder, preferably on the desktop (for quick access). Open the editor and drag one photo from the folder into the program window, or press Ctrl + O and select the appropriate photo.

Step 3

To select a fragment of an image and then copy it to another file, the Magic Wand tool is usually used, but in some cases it is desirable to use the Pen tool with a similar function.

Step 4

Activate the layer by left-clicking on the desired layer. On the toolbar, click on "Pen" and try to cut out a small part of the photo as you like. Note that Feather allows you to cut out more precise silhouettes, especially in the case of portraits.

Step 5

If you did not manage to clearly cut out the outline, look at the top panel of the editor, among the three icons it is necessary to activate the "Pen". It's worth noting that the more you scale the photo, the better the result will be. To zoom in or out, use the zoom slider on the right side of the screen or the dedicated Loupe tool.

Step 6

After creating the contour, you need to close the fragment by clicking the left mouse button on the first point. Right-click inside the enclosed selection and select Make Selection.

Step 7

Now it remains to copy the resulting fragment to a new file or transfer to an existing one. To do this, click the top menu "Edit" and select "Cut".

Step 8

In the new file, click the Edit menu and select Paste.
