By default, all newly created pages in the text editor Microsoft Word have a "portrait" orientation. But not all documents look their best in this format, so it becomes necessary to expand the page.

Instructions

Step 1

If the document consists of one page or you want to expand all the sheets of the document, then you can do this by opening the menu section with the name "Page Layout". In it, you need to click the "Orientation" item and select the desired option - "Portrait" or "Landscape". In earlier versions (Word 2003), this option is located in the menu section with the name "File", where you should select the "Page Setup" item, go to the "Margins" tab and there already make the choice "Orientation", "Portrait" or "Landscape" …

Step 2

If in a document of several pages you need to expand only a part of them, then the sequence should be different. First, go to the page that you want to expand in relation to the previous ones.

Step 3

Then you should open the dialog for setting page margins. In Word 2007, to do this, on the "Page Layout" tab, click the drop-down list labeled "Fields" and select the lowest item - "Custom Fields". In Word 2003, you can do this by expanding the File menu section and selecting Page Setup in it. A settings window will open, in which on the "Fields" tab there is a section "Orientation" - select the option you need for this page. Then find at the very bottom of this tab the drop-down list next to "Apply". It has only two options - "To the whole document" and "To the end of the document". Now you need to select the line "To the end of the document".

Step 4

Click the "OK" button to close the margin settings window. If this is the last page of the document or the following pages should also have the same orientation, then this is the end of the procedure. And if the next pages should be oriented differently from the one just expanded, then go to the next sheet and repeat the procedure with the custom fields settings window.

Step 5

There is another method, or rather a trick. Place the text of the page in a table with one cell, then select its content (not the cell, but only the text), right-click and select the "Text direction" line from the context menu. This way you can rotate the contents of the cell 45 degrees clockwise (or counterclockwise). Then it will be necessary to remove the border of the table and adjust its internal and external margins - this way to rotate the page requires more settings than the previous one, therefore it is less convenient.
