The Microsoft Office Word word processor has perhaps the most advanced text formatting tools of all popular text editors. In particular, it has the ability to stretch text horizontally and vertically in several ways. The easiest way to do this is by increasing the font size, but if this option is not suitable for some reason, you can use other features of Word.
Necessary
Word processor Microsoft Office Word 2007 or 2010
Instructions
Step 1
To stretch text across the lines of paragraphs in your document, align it to the width - "full justification". To do this, first select the entire text (Ctrl + A) or the required fragment, and then either press the Ctrl + J key combination, or click on the fourth icon in the bottom row of the Paragraph command group on the Home tab. Word will then format the paragraphs by increasing the spaces between words where possible. This will not increase the total number of lines and pages in the document.
Step 2
If you need to stretch the text vertically, increase the line spacing used in your document. To do this, you also need to select all or part of the text. Having done this, open the drop-down list attached to the "Spacing" button in the same group of "Paragraph" commands - it is placed to the right of the one described in the previous step. In the list, select one of the six suggested options or open a window for manually setting the desired value by clicking on the line "Other line spacing options". Changing this parameter will not change the number of lines in the document, but they will be stretched over more pages.
Step 3
If it is necessary to preserve both the current alignment and the line spacing for stretching the text, you can change the proportions of the letters - make them wider, while maintaining the height. To do this, select the desired piece of text and click on the small icon placed on the "Home" tab to the right of the name of the "Font" command group - it opens a separate settings window from two tabs. You can also call this window using the "hot keys" Ctrl + D.
Step 4
Go to the "Advanced" tab and in the drop-down list next to the inscription "Scale" select a value of 150% or 200%. If these two options do not suit you, use the drop-down list from the next line - "Interval". Set it to "Sparse", and then select a suitable spacing between letters in paragraphs - for this, the window to the right of the drop-down list is intended. Finally, click the OK button.
