Services, or services, in the Microsoft Windows operating system are required for the computer to function properly, although some of them are optional and can be disabled by the user.
Instructions
Step 1
Call the main menu of the Microsoft Windows XP operating system by clicking the "Start" button and go to the "Control Panel" item to view and change the list of running services.
Step 2
Expand the "Administration" link and select "Services".
Step 3
Return to the main "Start" menu of the Microsoft Windows XP operating system and go to the "Run" item to perform an alternative procedure for viewing and editing the list of running services.
Step 4
Enter the value services.msc in the "Open" field and confirm the execution of the console launch command by clicking OK.
Step 5
Remember, before making any changes, it is recommended that you create a copy of the registry entries so that you can restore the original system settings in case of unexpected problems. To do this, call the Run dialog and enter the value regedit in the Open field to launch the Registry Editor tool. Confirm the command execution by clicking OK and open the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / System / CurrentControlSet / Services registry key. Call the context menu of the selected section by right-clicking and specifying the "Export" command.
Step 6
Call the main menu of the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system by clicking the "Start" button to view and edit the list of running services and go to the "Control Panel" item.

Select the "Administration" item and open the "Services" node, or call the context menu of the "My Computer" desktop element by right-clicking on the mouse to perform an alternative procedure.
Step 8
Go to the "Manage" item and expand the "Services" link.
Step 9
Return to the main "Start" menu of the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system and go to the "Run" item to perform another operation to open the list of running services.
Step 10
Enter the value services.msc in the "Open" field and confirm the execution of the console launch command by clicking OK.
