When the printer malfunctions, it is not uncommon for documents to be printed previously to be stored in its memory. This circumstance seriously interferes with the printing of new ones, since the printer's print queue is clogged. This usually occurs when paper jams, malfunctions of the printing mechanism of the printer and its driver.

Necessary

  • - Computer;
  • - Printer.

Instructions

Step 1

Turn off the printer using the button on the case or simply unplug the printer from the outlet.

Step 2

Check the paper in the printer to see if it is jammed or wrapped around the drum. If so, carefully, without using excessive force, pull the sheets out of the printer tray. Be sure to remove any wrinkled paper.

Step 3

Inspect the drum and printer mechanism. If they are in order at the initial examination, proceed to the next step. Clear all documents from the print queue. To do this, go to "Start - Control Panel - Printers and Faxes" and select your printer by double-clicking, then click in the new window on "Printer" and "Clear print queue". The operation may have to be repeated several times.

Step 4

Try to select in the list one by one those documents that you want to remove from the print queue, and click "Cancel", then confirm what you have done. Turn on the printer and try to print the document again. After that, the printer's memory should be cleared.

Step 5

If this is not the case, try removing the USB / LPT cable from the printer, and then turn off the printer power again. If the printer is on a network, check that no one else is sending a print job to it on other machines on the network, and that the jobs themselves, if created, are canceled.

Step 6

Uninstall the printer driver from your computer (best of all, correctly through Add or Remove Programs). Restart your computer and reinstall. Plug the printer's LPT / USB cable back and turn on the power to the printer. Wait until the printer is detected and the drivers are correctly installed on it. Try to print again.
