The video card is installed in the corresponding port on the motherboard, which is standardized and has the name PCI-Express. When installing, it is important to carefully place the video adapter in the slot without damaging the board itself. The bracket is fastened using special screws and a port clamp.
Instructions
Step 1
To install the video card, first disconnect the computer from the power supply. Pull out all the wires that go to your device. Place the case on a flat surface to perform the adapter replacement operation.
Step 2
Remove the side panel of the computer. To do this, you need to unscrew the bolts with a screwdriver. On some models of enclosures, special clips are used to secure the side panel. To remove the cover of the system unit, it will be enough for you to loosen these fasteners.
Step 3
Determine the location of the video card in the computer system unit. The video adapter is a board with a cooling cooler on one side. The video card is usually installed in a special connector on the lower half of the motherboard.
Step 4
To remove the video card, remove the screw that secures it to the computer. If there is an additional cable that goes from the video card to the motherboard, carefully disconnect it. On the right side of the video adapter port, pull down on the plastic bracket, and then pull the card towards you. The video card should be easy to pull out. If this does not happen, check for other fasteners or bolts that may be on the motherboard.
Step 5
Insert the new video card into the vacated slot and secure it. The board should easily slide into the connector and lock into it. If the video adapter has an additional power cable, install it into the corresponding connector on the motherboard. After completing the connection, screw the bracket to the computer case using the appropriate fastener.
Step 6
Close the system unit and connect it to power, then start the computer. If the operation was performed correctly and the connected video card is working, the installation can be considered complete. To configure the video card, do not forget to install the drivers that can be downloaded from the official website of the device manufacturer or using the disk that came with the adapter.
