Instructions

Step 1

Create a new document using the New command from the File menu. Select Rectangular Selection from the toolbar and draw a rectangle on a new layer. On the Select menu, check Modify, then Smooth. In the new window, write down the value for the rounding radius.

Step 2

Select the Paint Brush Tool from the toolbar and click inside the selection. The rectangle will be filled with the foreground color. Press Ctrl + D to deselect around the shape.

Step 3

In the same way, you can round the corners of the finished rectangular image. Hold down the Ctrl key and click on the rectangle icon in the layers panel - a selection will appear around the image. In the Select menu, check Modify and Smooth in sequence and set a suitable radius of rounding.

Step 4

From the Select menu, choose the Inverse command or use the Shift + Ctrl + I shortcut. Now you need to cut the sharp corners. For this, it is convenient to use the Ctrl + X combination or the Cut command from the Edit menu.

Step 5

Another tool with which you can round the edges is in the U group. Press this letter on your keyboard and select the Rounded Rectangle Tool. On the property bar, assign a rounding radius and draw a shape on a new layer.

Step 6

On the toolbar, click on the colored square and select a suitable shade from the color palette. Right click on the shape and select the Fill Path option if you want to get a fully filled rectangle.

Step 7

If you only want a colored path, choose the Stroke Path command. Pre-select the Brush Tool ("Brush") and on the property bar set its parameters: diameter and hardness. The width and clarity of the stroke will depend on them.

Step 8

Using the Rounded Rectangle Tool, you can also round the corners of the finished image. Open a picture, select this tool and assign a radius of rounding on the property bar. Move the cursor over one of the corners of the image and drag out a rectangle of the desired size.

Step 9

Right-click the shape's outline and choose Make Selection from the drop-down menu. Invert the selection and hit Delete to remove the corners of the picture.
