Netbook owners and few computer owners are limited in their use of technology by the lack of a built-in DVD drive. To record information in digital form, in this case, special devices are used - external recorders. They are designed for multichannel input and digitization of audio and video signals with the ability to save them on the hard disk of a computer.

Step 1
Select the correct recording device. A USB recorder, for example, transmits only audio signals and is indispensable for recording and digitizing audio directly from a microphone. It is typically used in meetings and conferences for electronic recording. This recorder is available in two versions - USB recorder and USB-Mini. To connect it to a computer, you only need a USB port and a corresponding cable.
Step 2
The need to obtain high currents when recording discs (burning) has led to equipping these recorders with a special cable with two connectors. Therefore, the computer must also have two free USB ports. To connect to a computer, simply plug the USB connectors into the corresponding ports in any order (they are equal). The DVD recorder will install the necessary drivers on the computer by itself and will be ready to work.
Step 3
Recorders are often available in thin cases and come in two flavors. Slim (ultra-thin) recorders contain the standard drive used in notebook computers. Such recorders are lightweight, have compact dimensions, and are configured for energy-saving mode. They do not have a power supply unit, they are powered by a computer. To connect them, simply plug the cable into the computer and turn on the device.
Step 4
There are also recorders available in a 5.25 case. They have an internal equipment identical to that installed in stationary computers. The connection of such drives is also carried out via the USB port. However, a separate power supply unit is provided for their power supply, which weighs 1-1.5 kg. Such recorders have significant dimensions and weight, exceeding the weight of a laptop.
Step 5
Recording with external devices is performed at almost the same speed and with the same quality as on a computer or laptop. The only inconvenience of using is the complete immobility of the recorder during recording. the laser beam may become out of focus and the recording will be destroyed.
Step 6
Playing discs on a recorder is no different from a computer.
